When Should You Take Maternity Photos?
One of the questions I hear often is when to schedule a maternity photoshoot.
While every pregnancy is different, many women choose the late second to early third trimester, when the pregnancy is beautifully visible but they’re still comfortable enough to enjoy the experience and move through artistic posing.
There’s no single “right” time, but I generally don’t recommend waiting too close to your due date. As pregnancy progresses, comfort, flexibility, and mobility can change, which may affect the types of poses you’re able to comfortably explore.
More importantly, think about what you want these photographs to preserve.
When planning your maternity session, don’t only look for inspiration based on how you want the images to look. Think about your history, your story, and what you want your children and future grandchildren to understand about you during this chapter of your life.
That story becomes the inspiration.
